Exploring farm?to?restaurant relations and the potential of a local food hub: A case study in the city?region of Groningen (NL)

Urban restaurants are increasingly putting local food on the menu. How do farm-to-restaurant relations fit into movement, and how can these collaborations be supported by policies programmes of urban governments? Through a qualitative case study in city-region Groningen (The Netherlands), this article explores values restaurants, suppliers governments attribute to food, trust barriers actors experience their collaborations, views municipality's preliminary plans for hub. In line with concepts reflexive localism values-based territorial networks, taking account perspectives, benefits, pitfalls conditions uncovered study, farm-to-restaurant-oriented hub would need (1) embrace complex relational nature place, (2) foster reciprocal practical partnerships, (3) negotiate goals (4) broker between unburden involved parties.
